A Natural Cleanse

No no, not that kind of cleanse silly! I’m talking household cleaners!

As a part of the Foodbuzz Publisher Program, I was selected to try out some Clorox Green Works cleaning products. FYI: (I was not compensated for these reviews but did receive complimentary products).

I have to admit that when it comes to cleaning products, I have always gone for the traditional stuff. I like the strong smell of a powerful cleaner that makes me know things are spic and span. However, I realize the impact that harsh cleaners can have on the environment and I know that natural based cleaners are also safer for children. This was the perfect opportunity for me to get to try out some natural alternatives made by a brand that I have used for years!

In the package I received three products to try: all purpose cleaner, cleaning wipes, and laundry detergent. You can check out the entire product line here. The product I was most excited about was the cleaning wipes. I love the convenience of these wipes and especially love having them in my drawer at work to keep my desk clean. (If you eat at your desk at work, you should really consider doing this!).

The Green Works wiped worked great! They made my work area clean and germ free but they also smelled great and were certain not to offend co-workers. I also love the fact that they are compostable. I normally feel bad about using disposable wipes versus a cleaner and a rag, but this takes away the guilt of using this convenient product.

At home I have also cleaned my kitchen counters with the all purpose cleaner and it did a great job and smelled really nice. I haven’t used the laundry detergent yet, but I plan to do so soon. I can tell you that it has a nice lavender scent.

Have you tried Green Works? If so, what did you think?

Oops I did it again!

Hope you are all having a fabulous Wednesday! I don’t know about you guys, but I was convinced it was Thursday all day. Not sure why.

Before I get into today, I wanted to show you the awesome dinner I had last night.

IMG_6252

I defrosted some of Joe’s homemade sauce with turkey meatballs and loaded two meatballs and lots of sauce onto a whole wheat hot dog bun. (Great way to use these up!). On top I melted some lowfat mozzarella and heated the whole thing in the oven until melty. HEAVEN!

Washed it down with this refreshing soda- a pregnancy FAVE!

Anyhow.. today I had the great idea of deep cleaning the fridge. Removing the shelves and all that jazz.

Great idea, until I removed the bottom shelves and drawers and had no idea how to get them back in. It didn’t help that some random piece of plastic flew off and I had no idea where it came from.

So 2 hours later, I finally was done. And the bottom shelf is totally wonky now. (This will be a Joe project).

At least it’s clean!

IMG_6258

Even the condiment shelves are spotless

This afternoon I had a few errands to run and when I spotted a Starbucks, I just couldn’t resist. Ooops! This time I ordered a tall decaf soy latte. SO GOOD!

I think I actually prefer this to the pumpkin spice latte.  But don’t worry, I’m not going pumpkin free just yet.

This candle smells SO GOOD! I’ve been burning it all day.

Have you ever taken something apart and couldn’t get it back together? How are you at putting together furniture? (I’m spatially challenged and can’t seem to do any of this stuff)

What’s your favorite candle scent?

I just wanna

I just wanna……….. RUN

I am dying to go for a run, but considering I can barely sit, I know running isn’t an option until my tailbone heals. I haven’t been out for a run in about 2 weeks and I just want to get out there. I’m having that feeling like I lost my mojo even though I know I haven’t. Know what I mean??

IMG_3038

I just wanna………… ORGANIZE

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to remove clutter. I am dying to just get started on tackling my closets and donating too clothes that are too big and too small and stuff I no longer wear. I just know can’t do the reaching, bending, and lifting right now.

IMG_2262

I just wanna……………STEP ON THE SCALE

But I won’t. It’s been a long 3 weeks of travel, eating, sitting, and not being as healthy as I normally am. I’m tempted to get on the scale and force myself to feel guilty about it. But I’m not going to do that. Instead, I am going to be nice to myself, and settle back into my routine this week and not add pressure by weighing in.

I just wanna……………. EAT FRESH BERRIES

IMG_4459

But they are so expensive!  I went shopping today and came home with the usual apples and bananas. I bought some frozen stuff but it’s just not the same!

What do you wanna do???!?

Little Things

Good morning!

Long time no talk write! I got pretty caught up in my cleaning spree yesterday. My house is so clean and it feels amazing. I often tidy, but it’s not the same as knowing that everything is DEEP cleaned.

Last night we slept in freshly cleaned sheets, and this morning I walked downstairs and everything was spic and span.

IMG_4104

It really is the little things that can start your day off right.

And even though we didn’t fully decorate for x-mas yet, I picked up a few new items yesterday to get me in the holiday spirit (I also blasted Christmas carols all day while I was cleaning).

This candle smells awesome.

It’s like Clark Griswold just cut down a tree from his front yard and placed it in your living room. (plus they are 25% off at Bed and Bath, and you can still use your 20% off coupon) Full size Yankee Candle = $13.

IMG_4106

I also picked this up for $2 at Michaels. I love snowmen!

IMG_4107

And some holiday towels for the powder room. These are great because they are seasonal and not just x-mas. You can keep them out all winter.IMG_4109

IMG_4110

Some kitchen towels too.

IMG_4108

These little things made me really happy :)

Today I have another list to tackle.

IMG_4111

This is my second to last week of classes and the work is piling on. I’ve been pretty on top of things, but I really need to check a few items off this list in order to feel good.

So I’ll be busy doing work today.

No workout is planned since I have pain in my left shin/ankle. It started off as shin splints but now I’m having a hard time bending my ankle and the shin is sore to the touch. It was bad yesterday and feels a little more flexible today. So I’m going to keep resting it for now.

What little things are making you smile today?

Clean

Do you often find that "clean" is on your to-do list?

I don’t think I’ve ever made one without it.

As I check off things like

- call so and so

- buy this or that

- cook this

"clean" moves lower to the list and eventually gets moved to a different day.

So today, the first thing on my list is "CLEAN"

IMG_4103

And "CLEAN" I shall.

Gotta start off the cleaning spree with fuel

IMG_4102

A sandwich thin with pb flour spread and sf strawberry jam. A banana was eaten as well.

As much as I want to sit here and procrastinate, we all know what I need to be doing. :(

See you in a bit.

What is that thing that is ALWAYS on your to-do list that you don’t ever want to do?

Cleaning- the 80′s edition

When I clean the house, I like to think of myself in an 80′s movie montage.

I put my hair in a super high bun,

put on some tunes, and run around the house like a maniac cleaning until..boom, it’s done. Like magic.

Lunch came together pretty quickly too. I made my Cheesy Roasted Vegetable Pasta and I also added some of these:

IMG_2755

Not the prettiest plate of pasta ever, but it was very tasty.

And I totally overcooked the pasta because I was really enjoying my 80′s Google image search.

IMG_2763

What’s your favorite 80′s movie?

I think mine is Troop Beverly Hills. But who can pick just one?
