Ask Me Anything Part #2

Thanks to all of you who asked me questions for this post! Without further ado, here are your answers!

Q1: I know you workout a lot… how many times a week though and for how long? do you have an example schedule?

Yep! I track my workouts. You can find the day by day breakdown by clicking on the workout tab at the top of the page.

Q2: How many times do you eat throughout the day?

Hmm..let’s see. My schedule just changed so I’m still getting my eating figured out. Here’s how it usually goes:

Meal 1: (5:30 am) If I workout in the early morning, I’ll grab a 1/2 a banana

Meal 2: (7:45 am) Breakfast either at home quickly, or at around 8am when I arrive at school.

Meal 3: (10:30am) Usually a small snack (string cheese, grapes)

Meal 4: (12:00pm) Lunch

Meal 5: (4:30 pm) Either at home or at school if I’m still there (yogurt, apple, hummus and a tortilla or two)

Meal 6: (7:30/8pm) Dinner

Meal 7 (9:30/10) Dessert (either a skinny cow, hot cocoa, frozen mango/pineapple, or a piece or two of chocolate)

Q3: What is your favorite recipe to share?

I love sharing recipes! Feel free to check all of them out on the Recipes Tab at the top of the page.

Here’s my TOP 5:

#5 Marriage Material Salmon

#4 Spinach and Ricotta Stuffed Chicken

#3 Turkey Chili

#2 Baked Buffalo Tofu and Baked Buffalo Tofu Salad

#1 Peanut Flour Pancakes

Q4: What was your first date with your husband?

Aww! Sweet question!

Well, it’s funny because Joe and I met up at Penn State in 2001 and we really didn’t go on many "dates". We hung out at parties and I remember that our first solo outing was to a bar called the Phyrst. We played pool and had some drinks. Fun times :)

(Oh and yeah, this picture is not from that date, it’s from our honeymoon.)

Please feel free to ask any more questions right HERE!

I will answer them in an upcoming post :)

Nerves vs. Excitement

Do you ever find it hard to distinguish the two?

Sometimes I do, but usually I can tell the difference. I’ve been nervous about my upcoming race, but finally this morning I started to feel the excitement. Hooray!

When I’m nervous I feel: nauseous, heart pounding, can’t eat, can’t sleep, constantly making lists, prefer to be alone, need quiet

When I’m excited I feel: lighthearted, energetic, eat more, still can’t sleep,  chatty, a little jittery, love music and dancing around

I do struggle with my nerves often. I would consider myself a high anxiety person.  I’m also a planner and a communicator.

I don’t do well without a schedule and I’m the person that always wants to make sure "we’re on the same page"

Another thing I was excited about this morning was my breakfast.  Starting the day with peanut butter and chocolate will have that effect on you.

1 cup chobani plain + 15g peanut flour + 2 splendas (optional)

Topped with 1 warmed deep chocolate vitatop

A great way to start the day.

Tell me more about you.

Are you a nervous person or more laid back?

How does being anxious affect you?

What are you excited about today?

Don’t worry, this post isn’t about “that” topic. It’s title was inspired by the FIOS people who have been outside of my house all day. My neighbor is getting it installed and they need to dig lots of holes all around our houses to thread the cables. It is SO LOUD.

I guess it’s my fault for staying home ALL DAY. I’ve been totally consumed with putting my blog together that I really haven’t done much else. Most of the time has been spent putting together My About Me Page. So humor me, and take a look, ok?

Also, I wanted to mention that my first post wasn’t meant to put down other blogs that do a lot of the things that I won’t be doing on this blog. Trust me, I’m in awe of the many women who are able to produce extremely high quality blogs, food photos, and recipes. I’m inspired by these blogs, I just can’t be like them. That is what I was trying to say.

Food has not been exciting or abundant today. I’ve been busy. (writing about food).

Lunch was some Chobani with pumpkin and pumpkin spices mixed in. Topped with a Cascadian Farm harvest spice granola bar that I got as a freebie from my 5K.

Did I mention that I’m a pumpkin hoarder? I have about 8 cans left that I bought when I visited my mom in CT because they are out in PA. Its not illegal to transport pumpkin across state lines. RIGHT?

On the side I had a bunch of cantaloupe, and a freakin horse pill antibiotic to help mend the toe infection I have that is keeping me from running. (gross, I know, but I told you I’m honest).

Must go and get out of this (shaking) house!

Tell me…

Is there a pumpkin shortage in your neighborhood?

Do you have FIOS?

Hi everyone and welcome to my new blog!
I’m sure that most of you here followed my blog on Blogger that I stopped writing in March. Things just got too hectic with school and work and I just couldn’t keep up with posting. Additionally, I think I got a little stressed out by making sure that all of my meals and posts would be interesting enough.

I also felt that I needed to do the following things, all which I didn’t really want to do. Let’s call this “blogging peer pressure”

1.) Buy expensive foods and food gadgets

2.) Eat lots of nutbutters

3.) Eat a lot of oats

4.) Get a fancy camera

5.) Get a fancy blender

6.) Create pretty meals even if it meant running late, eating too much, going insane

7.) Taste all of the food samples received

8.) Waste a lot of free food samples received

All of the things I mention above are the antithesis of what this blog is about. So let me tell you what you can expect from Food in Real Life.

1.) Somewhat grainy pictures

2.) Honesty

3.) Healthy and interesting meals

4.) Not so healthy or interesting meals

5.) Humor & Sarcasm

6.) Little to no free food reviews

7.) Info on my personal fitness and exercise routines
If this sounds good to you, welcome and I hope you stick around! I’ll probably write this blog anyway but its way more fun if I know people are actually reading it.

Let's get this party started!
