I am SO sick of commercials for desserts marketed towards women.
When you eat dessert, does your hair blow in the wind? Do you lick the other side of the spoon like its the first time you’ve ever done that?
Do you slowly roll your eyes and bat your lashes in a way that says, "I KNOW I’m being bad, but it tastes sooooooooooooo good"
NO. Probably not.
Because you just eat the dessert.
I hate how advertisers make it seem like women eat dessert because:
- They finally get a moment to themselves
- They’ve had a rough day so they deserve it
- It’s their only moment of sanity for the day
- Being a woman is hard and chocolate makes it better
- The house is finally empty, dark, quiet and no one will see us do it
Here are some examples of what I’m talking about.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to chase a Three Musketeers Bar that just floated out of my purse.
Thoughts?
I agree. It is like they think men don’t enjoy dessert just as much as females.
Or even worse-it’s a double standard. Have this dessert but not too much because then you aren’t as thin a society would like.
Awesome post, love it. So true–these commercials are ridiculous.
You’ve been a posting queen lately and I have a lot to catch up on!
Hope you enjoy your weekend
Hahaha! I just ate some Junior Mints & did NOT have to put on a parka as suggested in the York patty commercials. lol
It’s silly indeed but clearly works if they keep showing them.
What you don’t have love affairs with your dessert??? I mean obviously it’s the only pleasure us women can get because we’re just so obsessed with chocolate that we have to strip down before start eating our 500 calorie snack. Crazy advertisers…
Funny! Toddler is taking a nap and what am I doing? Reading your blog and relaxing with a cup of hot chocolate…there’s some truth to the ads!
But is your hair blowing in the wind??
